Grammar can be a bug-a-boo, hated by school kids and adults nationwide. But hating it doesn’t make it any less important to know. Good grammar reflects a refinement of a decent education and a smart person who is taken more seriously than not. So you need your decent grammar for credibility.
And why is it so hated? Because the English language has so many exceptions, it’s hard to get your arms around the basics, then you’re repeatedly called out on being wrong. And no one likes to be called out time and time again, especially on a fussy subject, and so grammar is pretty universally villified.
But oh joy! it’s a new day 🙂 The internet has ushered in a new era in language and writing, so many of the old grammar rules can be cast by the wayside – yay, raise a flag!
